What AyClip is

AyClip is a web studio that turns a long YouTube video or an uploaded file into short, vertical clips that are ready to post on TikTok and YouTube Shorts. It is built for Indonesian creators, podcasters and content teams, so the clip selection, captions and hashtags are written in natural, casual Bahasa Indonesia. The product is live at ayclip.com.

How AyClip uses Claude

Claude, through the Anthropic API, is the default analysis engine and the part of the product that decides what becomes a clip.

• Candidate selection. The Whisper transcript is split into overlapping windows of about ten minutes. For each window Claude picks the strongest self-contained moments and scores each one on hook strength, standalone clarity, payoff, shareability and engagement potential.
• Re-ranking. A second pass compares every candidate from across the whole video, so scores are comparable from the first minute to the last.
• Copy. Claude writes a headline, the caption (hook, value, call to action) and the hashtags for each clip.
• Data handling. Only transcript text is sent to the AI provider. The video itself is never sent to it. See the Privacy Policy.

Users can also bring their own API key and choose another provider (OpenAI, Ollama or a compatible endpoint). Claude is the default and the engine the prompts are written around.

• Paste a YouTube URL or upload a video file (resumable direct upload).
• Whisper transcription with word-level timestamps.
• Claude analysis: candidate clips, scores, captions, headlines.
• Rendering to 9:16 with word-level karaoke subtitles and face-tracking reframing, using FFmpeg and MediaPipe.
• Editing in the browser, then publishing to YouTube Shorts or TikTok.

How it is built

• Backend: FastAPI (Python) with separate pipeline and render workers.
• Frontend: Next.js.
• Data and auth: Postgres on Supabase. Media: private Cloudflare R2 buckets with signed URLs.
• Durable job queue with renewable leases, so work survives restarts.
• Social credentials are stored encrypted. OAuth state is single use.
• Automated test suite (700+ backend tests, frontend unit and browser tests) runs in CI on every push.

Development timeline

• 10 June 2026: first version, a local engine for download, transcript, AI analysis and clip rendering.
• 11 June 2026: web studio built with Next.js.
• 15 June 2026: AI headline generation.
• 17 June 2026: Privacy Policy and Terms of Service published.
• 21 June 2026: direct video upload pipeline.
• 13 September 2026: second-generation architecture with durable job leases, encrypted social credentials and resumable uploads.
• 14 September 2026: production deployment at ayclip.com.
